| Annual donation for social programs in Obidos council |
|
A formal agreement (november 4th) has been celebrated in which Beltico (developer of Praia d’el Rey golf and beach resort) accepts to make an annual donation of 50 000 € to the Obidos Town Hall. This donation will be invested in the council for projects of solidarity, health and care for elderly people. |

| CULTURAL EVENT IN SÃO MARTINHO DO PORTO |
| 5th Annual Contemporary Creative Ceramic Exposition |
|
The exposition was held in the “Praça Frederico Ulrich”, the park area at the corner of the bay beach. The Ceramic works of 16 artists from different places in Portugal were presented during the three days of the exposition. This event was organized by the Contemporary Creative Ceramic Association and Alcobaça City Hall, with the support of “Casa da Cultura” and Municipality of São Martinho do Porto. |

| NEW PARK IN OBIDOS |
| Inauguration of the new ecologically friendly park in Obidos on the World Environment Day |
|
This new 20 hectares park features: a larger animal park, 45 tree species, sports activities areas, children’s playgrounds, big auditorium for envents, WIFI free internet area, and walking paths linking up to the existing ecological walk/cycle path to the Obidos lagoon. The creation of this park is a response to the council’s policy to create awareness regarding environmental issues.

The URBACT II Monitoring Committee meeting that took place in Paris on April 18th 2008 approved the “Creative Clusters” project presented by Obidos in joint partnership with 4 other European towns.
