Buying a house in a foreign country does initially appear to be a daunting task. What we have found so far is that if care is taken in choosing whom you work with in that foreign country, then the whole process becomes much simpler and in many respects very enjoyable.

We first had contact with Susana and Antonio via their web site, Susana spent many hours of her time answering our questions, researching houses we felt we may want to view, providing detailed information about the various locations and all of this before we even had met. We arranged to visit the area and spend some time with Susana and Antonio looking at various properties.  This we duly did and it is, we believe, fair to say that all of our initial decisions with regards to what we wished to purchase were overturned in very short order.  The patience and understanding exercised by both of them was extraordinary, imagine travelling from one house to another with a couple of "strangers" from a foreign country who kept saying "nice house, but no", not once but many many times and you start to understand why we are happy to provide this testimonial for them.

Eventually after 5 days of viewing we occasioned upon a plot of land that is just perfect.  Our initial concerns with regard to building a house in a foreign country were prejudiced by our experiences with doing the same thing in the United Kingdom.  Susana and Antonio arranged for us to meet with a local Advocate (Lawyer) who spoke good English.  We duly instructed Luisa to act on our behalf and to date we have been delighted with the service and attention she has given us (as a footnote, all the legal paperwork sent to us for signature was checked and verified by an independent Portuguese speaking Lawyer, instructed by ourselves, and all was completely in order).  We were happy to take Susana and Antonio's recommendation with regard to instructing an Architect and likewise to date we have experienced great service and attention from Joao.

 So to date, we can conclude that we are delighted with the service and attention that we have received, not only from Susana and Antonio but also from those parties that they have recommended to us.

Buying a plot of land and building a house in a foreign country and not speaking the language can be a daunting task. We were helped greatly with translations and communications with builders, suppliers and retailers. It has made the whole process work smoothly and we really appreciated the extra effort of weekly photographs showing the progress at the site.We could not have done it without you!!

We would just like to say a very big thank you to Susana & her collegues, for all the help & advice they gave us when we purchased a villa in Perola da Lagoa, she went out of her way to make our purchase as stress free as possible, and looked after everything for us, we found it easier to buy in portugal than in England, She also arranged a lawyer for us who spoke great English,and sorted all the paper work and more out for us and again we would highly recommend her, and would definately use again (Luisa).
